Despite Ferrari securing a fantastic double-podium finish at the British Grand Prix with Charles Leclerc taking a brilliant victory, Lewis Hamilton left Silverstone feeling compromised. The British driver managed to salvage a third-place finish but was left lamenting a major technical miscalculation made just before heading out onto the starting grid.
The multi-time world champion revealed that an intentional reduction in front-wing downforce backfired completely, causing severe balance issues during his opening stint. While Leclerc found the sweet spot with increased downforce, Hamilton struggled with immense understeer that severely hindered his pace and allowed the leaders to break away early in the race.

Hamilton openly accepted blame for the technical direction alongside his engineering crew, stating, "We really underestimated the level of front downforce needed. It is a mistake that is as much mine as it is the engineers." He noted that differential adjustments mid-race helped, but the gap to the front was already insurmountable.
A compounding five-second pit stop penalty further derailed his recovery attempt, dropping him vital points in the championship standings. The Scuderia constructor will look to refine their communication and engineering processes ahead of the next round to maximize their competitive driver lineup.
