Seixas Overcomes Mechanical Chaos to Stay in General Classification Hunt
The highly anticipated first skirmish between the Grand Tour contenders saw Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale rising star Paul Seixas drop just three seconds to the elite group. Despite facing immense adversity during his first career road stage on the Grande Boucle, the young Frenchman fought valiantly to limit his losses on the demanding terrain.
A poorly timed puncture forced Seixas into two rapid bike changes, burning vital energy reserves to chase his way back into the peloton before the final climb. Complicated further by intermittent race radio issues, he crossed the line just behind the frontrunners, leaving him sixth overall in the general classification, 42 seconds adrift of leader Jonas Vingegaard.

Honestly, ninth is very good considering the circumstances, Seixas told L'Equipe. I used up a lot of energy returning after the puncture, but the team did a tremendous job to guide me back to the front. I got caught out by a small split at the bottom of the final descent, but losing three seconds is nothing.
The peloton now prepares for Stage 3 as the race crosses the border onto French soil for a grueling mountain showdown. Seixas will need a flawless performance to maintain his strong positioning in the general standings as the battle between heavyweights Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard intensifies on the steep climbs ahead.
