Marseille Seek Transfer Compromise as Roma Intensify Greenwood Negotiations
Olympique de Marseille and AS Roma are closing in on an agreement for the transfer of English forward Mason Greenwood. The Ligue 1 side has reportedly softened their initial stance to move negotiations forward, making a final compromise fee of 45 million euros realistic for both European clubs.
Italian media reports indicate that Marseille initially demanded 55 million euros but are now willing to accept 50 million euros including bonuses. Roma previously budgeted 40 million euros for the deal, but recent negotiations monitored by Corriere della Sera suggest a middle ground is well within reach.

Greenwood has reportedly given his preference to the Italian capital, having already agreed on personal terms regarding his future salary. However, Roma must act quickly as Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce remains interested with a highly lucrative contract offer, while Atletico de Madrid have also made initial inquiries.
The financial dynamics are complicated by a 40 percent sell-on clause held by Manchester United, meaning Marseille would keep only 30 million euros from a 50 million euro sale. This significant deduction raises questions about whether club officials will truly sacrifice their top attacking asset at a discounted price.
