Reflecting on the ambitious meeting during an interview with MagentaTV, Klopp humorously dubbed the mission a glamorous failure. "It was the most expensive failed transfer for Liverpool! We flew from Blackpool to Nice. In Nice, Kylian Mbappe"s entire family boarded a private jet that had about five rooms,' Klopp remembered.
The German tactician explained that the club spared no expense on hospitality to leave an impression on the family. "We put everything into the plane. Then we just circled in the sky, talking with the family and enjoying delicious food. It was fantastic," Klopp added, shedding light on the fine margins of elite football recruitment.
