Tanguy Kouassi Returns to Ligue 1 to Rebuild Career at Lille
Lille OSC have finalized a deal to bring defender Tanguy Kouassi back to French football. The 24-year-old center-back joins Les Dogues on a two-year contract with an option for an additional season, completing a free transfer after mutually terminating his previous deal with La Liga outfit Sevilla FC.
The former France Under-21 international moves to the Stade Pierre-Mauroy looking for a fresh start. Kouassi struggled for consistency during a challenging four-year stint in Andalusia, where recurring hip and hamstring injuries limited him to just 62 appearances following his high-profile departure from Paris Saint-Germain.

The acquisition serves as a vital defensive reinforcement for manager Bruno Genesio following the departures of veteran center-backs Chancel Mbemba and Aïssa Mandi. Kouassi becomes Lille's third signing of the summer transfer window, arriving alongside Turkish winger Önel Basar and Swiss fullback Loun Srdanovic.
Kouassi's arrival coincides with the club's pre-season preparations, which began with a comfortable 3-0 friendly victory against La Louvière. The technical staff expects Kouassi to integrate into the tactical setup quickly as Lille targets a strong push for European qualification spots in the upcoming Ligue 1 campaign.
