New Era for Strasbourg as Oliveira Steps Into the Dugout
Ligue 1 outfit RC Strasbourg have finally found their replacement for Gary O'Neil, who departed for Premier League side Ipswich Town two weeks ago. The French club finalized a deal for the 47-year-old Portuguese manager after intensive negotiations, beating out alternative candidate Wilfried Nancy to secure their primary target.
Strasbourg negotiated a transfer package valued slightly above 2 million euros to release Oliveira from his current contract with Portuguese side Famalicao. This represents a significant discount for the Alsatian club, given that the manager's official release clause in Portugal was set at 4 million euros.

Oliveira brings a wealth of top-tier experience to France, having previously served as a prominent assistant to Marco Silva at Premier League clubs Fulham, Everton, Watford, and Hull City. He took his first major head coaching role at Famalicao in December 2024, implementing a progressive tactical setup during his tenure.
The manager is expected to arrive in Alsace on Sunday alongside his coaching staff to sign the final contract before taking charge of Monday's training session. This quick transition allows Oliveira to assess his squad immediately before they depart for their pre-season training camp in Faro on July 19.
