Chevalier Transfer Holds Key to Costa Arrival in Paris

Just one year after acquiring Lucas Chevalier from Lille for 40 million euros, Paris Saint-Germain are contemplating another major shakeup in their tactical setup between the posts. The French champions are open to parting ways with the young shot-stopper, a move that would trigger an immediate pursuit for a new elite number one.

Portuguese international Diogo Costa has emerged as the priority target following his standout performances at the 2026 World Cup. The 26-year-old goalkeeper, currently under contract at FC Porto until 2030, caught the attention of PSG scouts after delivering a commanding display against Spain in the tournament's round of 16.

According to insider reports from PSG Inside Actu, "Diogo Costa remains at the very top of the list, but there is an essential condition. As long as Lucas Chevalier does not leave the club, no new goalkeeper will be recruited, leaving Matvey Safonov as the starter."

FC Porto value their star goalkeeper at 60 million euros, but PSG will not submit a formal bid until Chevalier seals an exit. The French keeper has already attracted significant interest from Premier League side Aston Villa and Ligue 1 rivals Rennes, which could accelerate the transfer market domino effect.
