Belgian Football Federation Demands Governance Reform From FIFA
The Royal Belgian Football Association (URBSFA) has confirmed it will not drop its legal dispute with world football's governing body. The conflict erupted after Monaco striker Folarin Balogun was unexpectedly cleared to play for the United States in their round of 16 clash, sparking outrage within the Belgian camp.
Belgium easily bypassed the United States with a commanding 4-1 victory on Monday night to book their spot in the quarter-finals. However, the pre-match controversy overshadowed the tactical masterclass, as FIFA rejected Belgium's initial official appeal against the American forward's sudden disciplinary reinstatement.

In an official statement, the URBSFA praised the squad's on-pitch resilience while demanding extensive institutional changes. "The URBSFA is convinced that international football must rely on a disciplinary and governance framework fully compliant with the principles of legal certainty, transparency, equal treatment, and fair play," the federation stated.
The controversial decision reportedly followed political intervention, which led the Belgian federation to explicitly voice concerns over institutional arbitrariness. Seeking to safeguard the integrity of future tournaments, the URBSFA has demanded clearer disciplinary procedures and thanked several other national federations for backing their ongoing campaign against FIFA.
